Serve on a Committee
RSVP is continually recruiting volunteers to serve on its committees. Committee members plan, coordinate and evaluate RSVP programs and projects. Please contact Diana Jost at 608-441-1393 or djost@rsvpdane.org if you would like to put your experience and knowledge to good use as an RSVP committee member.
The Executive Committee is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of the Board of Directors, in addition to the Chair of the Personnel Committee. This committee is responsible for working in support of and, in an emergency, in place of the full Board of Directors. All actions of the Executive Committee are subject to approval by the full Board.
The Agency Assessment Committee conducts an evaluation of each RSVP program on a three-year cycle. Committee members prepare survey instruments, conduct site visits, compile and review survey results, and prepare a summary report with recommendations to the RSVP Board and funding sources. The goal of the committee’s work is to continuously improve RSVP programming to meet community needs.
The Development Committee is responsible for fundraising for the general operation of RSVP of Dane County. Committee members plan and carry out activities such as the annual fund appeal, corporate sponsorship of the volunteer recognition event and an annual sweepstakes.
The Financial Oversight and Planning Committee monitors the organization’s finances and works in conjunction with the Development Committee to promote stable funding for RSVP of Dane County. This committee reviews budgeting and financial planning, ongoing financial results, the annual audit, investment policies and practices, and internal controls and accountability policies.
The Grant & Funds Committee’s purpose is to expand, research, monitor, and explore income sources: foundations, businesses, individuals, grants and other monetary gifts or values and considerations. This committee also provides education and information to any interested committee or staff member.
The Marketing Committee seeks opportunities to promote RSVP and its programs within the community through traditional media, social media, and community events. With the primary goals of volunteer recruitment and increasing visibility and support for RSVP, the committee works closely with staff, providing expertise, ideas and active assistance.
The Nomination and Board Development Committee is responsible for identifying and recruiting qualified candidates for RSVP’s Board of Directors and standing committees. The committee helps to develop board member orientation and training, and reviews and develops board policies relating to board structure and governance.
The Personnel Committee is responsible for the continuous updating of all federal, state and other regulations pertaining to operation. It monitors the personnel manual in addition to reviewing personnel policies for adequateness and compliance. It also carries out the hiring, annual review and evaluation of the Executive Director and is responsible for hearing and following up on any staff or employee grievances. In addition, the Personnel Committee can assist with the hiring of staff positions, as requested by the Executive Director.
The Recognition Committee is responsible for planning and implementing RSVP’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Event. RSVP is mandated by CNS to provide annual volunteer recognition. The committee also oversees other recognition opportunities (pins, birthday cards, national volunteer week, etc.).
